The Sheraton Detroit Metro Airport Hotel is looking for several part time servers and bartenders for our new restaurant and bar that will be opening soon! If you are an experienced server or bartender and looking for an opportunity to work in a newly renovated property, please contact us!

We are looking for indivduals who are passionate about service and are willing to take it to the next level by creating a unique experience for each guest.

POSITION PURPOSE Attends to guests’ needs, including, but not limited to: taking orders, helping guests with menu and drinks selection, delivering orders promptly, handling special requests and cashiering. Effectively carrying out opening and closing duties in the Restaurant and Lounge implementing the Sheraton standards of a “warm, comforting and community” guest experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Greet, welcome and seat guests upon arrival. The form of greeting is usually more formal at dinner time than during breakfast. Use eye contact and use guests’ names if known, in greeting. Make an effort to learn guest’s names and all guests shall be welcomed and greeted cordially. Take orders from guests systematically keeping organized at the table and able to know “Who gets what.” Will be assigned to either ala carte or meeting and event functions and therefore must know service styles in both areas. Know and understand the menu and beverage items available. Be able to explain various items by its preparation method, ingredients, food and drinks quantity and quality.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the Restaurant and Lounge. Assist other servers, bartenders and hotel associates in handling orders, set ups, closing functions and providing guest with information regarding hotel facilities and local attractions. Answering the telephone, taking orders and making reservations.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English, the primary language used in the workplace and demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must possess basic computational ability and basic computer skills. Have general knowledge of the city where hotel is located and its attractions along with extensive knowledge of the hotel and its services and facilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length and must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally and utilize grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Visual, speaking and hearing abilities are needed continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.
